INDUSTRIAL MODERNIZATION: AN AI CENTER FOR MINING AND METALLURGICAL ENTERPRISES HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED AT VKTU
An Industrial AI Competence Center has been established in a consortium with Kazakhstani companies on the basis of the D.Serikbayev EKTU, which will develop innovative solutions in the field of metallurgy, energy and industrial safety.
Partnership with domestic companies – Alpha-Safety LLP, Rating LLP, Normal Work LLP and Deepmine Technologies LLP, engaged in testing and implementing AI technologies, as well as with international partners of VKTU, such as INTI International University and Colleges (Malaysia), West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Sciences (Germany) and Tianjin University (China), allows for the effective integration of scientific research and advanced technologies into production activities. This contributes to the competitiveness and sustainable development of both the East Kazakhstan region and the country as a whole.
The Industrial AI project was implemented with the support of the World Bank and is aimed at developing and implementing innovative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for the mining and metallurgical sector. The main objectives of the initiative are to automate processes, improve labor efficiency and safety, and strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic industry at the global level.
In December of this year, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the need to build an economy based on knowledge and innovation. In his opinion, artificial intelligence is one of the key areas that require special attention. At the meeting of the National Council for Science and Technology, the Head of State devoted a significant part of his speech to the development of AI, emphasizing its important role in the transformation of the global economy. The President also noted that AI is already being actively implemented in various fields in Kazakhstan, but the country needs new institutions focused on this technology. The newly opened Center at VKTU may become one of such institutions in the future.
Industrial AI has already identified key areas of activity. Among them is the introduction of machine vision systems that analyze real–time data to ensure control and safety of production processes. It is also planned to use AI to monitor equipment and manage the energy infrastructure of enterprises. In addition, the Center will become an effective platform for the exchange of experience, the development of new technologies and the creation of innovative solutions.
The Industrial AI Center at the D.Serikbayev Moscow State Technical University is an important step in the development of science, education and advanced technologies, as well as in strengthening cooperation between the scientific community and industry. Thanks to the scientific approach and AI-based systems, Kazakhstan's mining and metallurgical industry can make significant progress, stimulating technological breakthroughs. Modernization of production and production processes is an important stage for the country's future in the world of high technology.
