Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov held a working meeting with the republican chambers on cattle breeds, as well as beef cattle breeding.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the development of meat farming.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the current state of meat farming, as well as further plans for the development of the industry.
"Animal husbandry is one of the main branches of the agro-industrial complex of the country. It accounts for about 40% of the gross agricultural output. The industry is developing at a steady pace. At the same time, there are a number of issues that we need to discuss today and work out ways to solve them.
In general, there is a steady increase in the number of cattle. According to the results of the 10 months of 2024, the growth amounted to 120.6%. The total number of cattle is 8.2 million heads, including meat and dairy products – more than 4 million. Beef was produced 313.8 thousand tons, an increase of 106.2%. We satisfy our own needs by 101%," said Aidarbek Saparov.
At the same time, the minister noted that there are a number of problems hindering the development of meat farming, on which it is important to hear the opinion of business.
Representatives of the industry voiced a number of urgent issues that need to be addressed and suggestions for improving the situation.
Among them are the shortage of working capital, problems of logistics of meat exports, taxation, the need for reliable accounting and the use of digital tools, the inclusion of farms in the register of exporters and others.
Following the meeting, the Minister instructed to create a working group with the inclusion of stakeholders from among the representatives of the industry. The main goal of the group is operational cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture on the development of meat farming.
