The official closing ceremony of the Year of Tourism of Kazakhstan in China was held in Almaty. The large-scale event was not only the result of a busy year of tourism, but also the starting point for new initiatives.
The international forum dedicated to the results of the Year of Tourism of Kazakhstan in China gathered more than 300 representatives of the tourism industry of the two countries. The program of the forum included a plenary session, two panel discussions: "Dynamics of tourism development between Kazakhstan and China" and "Promising areas for further cooperation", as well as B2B meetings of tour operators and representatives of the tourism business of Kazakhstan and China.
During the Year of Kazakhstan's Tourism in China, more than 30 major events were organized in Chinese cities and over 200 agreements were signed. Business and cultural missions contributed to the development of tourism and cultural exchange between the two countries, as well as strengthening Kazakhstan's position as an attractive tourist destination.
"This year was marked by a significant expansion of cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in the field of tourism. The tourist flow between our countries has demonstrated significant growth, which once again underlines that we are united not only by good neighborliness, but also by a common desire for mutual understanding and cultural exchange," said Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Yerkinbayev.
According to the Border Guard Service, the number of trips of Kazakhstanis to China increased by 31%, and the flow of visitors from China to Kazakhstan increased by 50%. In 10 months of 2024, 550 thousand people visited our country, while in the whole of 2023 this figure amounted to 367 thousand. This indicates the growing interest in our countries and the effectiveness of the projects implemented within the framework of the Year of Tourism.
This year, Tourism Days of cities and regions of Kazakhstan were held, as well as thematic weeks dedicated to various types of tourism in Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Urumqi. Kazakhstan was represented at four international tourism exhibitions — COTTM, ITB China, ITE Hong Kong. Major concerts have also been organized in Shandong and Hebei provinces. Exhibits from the fund of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan were presented at the exhibitions "Golden Man" and "Great Steppe".
In addition to cultural and informational events, large-scale event projects were initiated within the framework of the Year. In particular, about 500 people took part in the Silk Road motor rallies, the Peking-Paris Motor Challenge rally and the Silk Road motorcycle tour.
China's major media corporations have been actively highlighting Kazakhstan's tourism potential. The total media indicator of the Year of Tourism in China reached 1.8 billion views, and publications about Kazakhstan on social networks reached 160 million users.
The events of the Year of Tourism of Kazakhstan in China opened new horizons for travelers, and also allowed representatives of the tourism industry to expand partnerships.
The Forum has become a key event for summarizing the results and further strengthening cooperation. About 80 Kazakhstani and Chinese tour operators held B2B talks aimed at developing business ties and establishing partnerships.
Recall that 2024 was declared the Year of Tourism of Kazakhstan in China during the official visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to China last year. In March of this year, the opening of the Year and the Kazakh-Chinese Tourism and Investment Forum took place in Beijing. The next year 2025 has been declared the Year of Chinese Tourism in Kazakhstan. This was stated earlier by the heads of the two states at a joint press conference.
