Kazakhstan and Russia have signed an intergovernmental agreement on the joint use of the 7th world numbering zone.
The agreement reached fixes the distribution of ranges:
The Republic of Kazakhstan will use codes +7 0, +7 6, +7 7.
The Russian Federation has secured the codes +7 2, +7 3, +7 4, +7 5, +7 9.
This process was the result of a constructive dialogue based on the principles of good neighborliness and mutual respect. Kazakhstan and Russia will continue close cooperation to ensure transparent and efficient use of allocated resources in the interests of citizens of both countries.
It should be noted that in order to obtain a separate code in 2021, the international telephone code +997 was reserved for Kazakhstan.
While working with telecom operators on the issue of switching to a new code, it was noted that the transition to a new code is feasible, but entails a number of financial and technological problems.
In addition, all subscribers of domestic telecom operators will need to update their data in absolutely all services to receive government and banking services, social networks and various applications. Accordingly, during the transition period, there is a high probability of failures and negative experiences.
In this regard, for the convenience of citizens, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan re-negotiated with the International Telecommunication Union and decided to leave the international code +7 unchanged.
