On November 26-27, the XX Forum of interregional cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia was held in Ufa. Akim of Aktobe region Askhat Shakharov took part in a plenary session organized as part of a large-scale event and made a report on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural ties between the two countries, including the Aktobe region and Russia.
In his speech, the head of the region called for intensifying partnership with Russian regions and attracting large logistics companies to implement investment projects. He stressed that the strategic partnership between the two countries is based on centuries-old historical and economic ties, and the forum became another evidence of the far-sighted policy of the leaders of the two states.
"Aktobe region is open for cooperation and is ready to develop joint projects in various fields. We are confident that our partnership will bring significant benefits to both sides and are ready to provide all necessary government support for the successful implementation of new projects," the mayor assured.
Askhat Shakharov noted that Aktobe region, being a large agricultural and industrial region of Kazakhstan, demonstrates steady growth in trade with Russia. In the first nine months of this year alone, our trade turnover increased by 23%, reaching 1.2 billion US dollars.
The region actively cooperates with 47 regions of Russia. The main partners are Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Orenburg regions, Moscow and Bashkortostan. More than 700 Russian companies operate in the Aktobe region.
Over the past five years, more than $12 billion of investments have been attracted to the economy of our region. An example of successful cooperation are projects with the Novotroitsk Chromium Compounds Plant, the Tikhvin Ferroalloy Plant and the Klyuchevsky Ferroalloy Plant. The region is ready to offer maximum state support to new large-scale logistics and industrial projects.
"Important highways such as Western Europe – Western China pass through Aktobe region. The checkpoints are being modernized, in particular, "Zhaysan-Sagarchin" and "Zhyrenkopa-Pervomaiske". This will strengthen the transit potential of the region between Europe and Asia. In addition, an industrial zone is being created in the region in the city of Khromtau on an area of 150 hectares and a special economic zone in the airport area on an area of 858 hectares, which will become a multimodal transport and logistics hub. Aktobe Airport ranks second in Kazakhstan in terms of cargo transportation with a turnover of 10 thousand tons annually and continues to develop air traffic to new destinations," the governor outlined the investment attractiveness of the region.
As the governor noted, Aktobe region remains open for the development of joint projects aimed at strengthening economic, cultural and humanitarian ties.
At the end of the forum between the Akimat of Aktobe region and the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan (Russian Federation) A memorandum of understanding was signed.
The signed document confirms the willingness of the parties to develop mutually beneficial cooperation and opens up additional opportunities for the implementation of joint projects in the economic, cultural and social spheres.
