Within the framework of the 21st China International Agricultural Products Exhibition, in which Kazakhstan is the Guest of Honor, the delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a meeting with leading agricultural companies of Guangdong Province.
Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kenzhehanuly noted that China is one of the most priority trade, economic and investment partners of Kazakhstan.
"Agriculture is a key component of bilateral relations. In 2023, the trade turnover of agro-industrial products with China increased by 1.7 times, exceeding $1.3 billion. This underlines our joint interest in the development of this industry.
Most of all, we export cereals and oilseeds, vegetable oils to China. Fruits and vegetables, citrus fruits, and nuts are imported from China.
This dynamics of trade turnover is not the limit. There is a huge untapped potential between our countries," the Vice Minister said.
Agricultural products worth about $20 billion are produced annually in Kazakhstan, and processed products worth $6 billion.
Over the past 5 years, the total volume of exports of agricultural products has increased almost 2 times, reaching 5.4 billion dollars. It is planned to increase this figure to $10 billion in the next five years.
Kazakhstan is one of the world's top 10 wheat exporters and holds a leading position in flour exports. The products are also in good demand in China.
The members of the Kazakh delegation noted that among the priority areas is the export of high-quality livestock, crop production and products of its processing.
"We are witnessing a significant increase in the interest of Chinese investors in the agricultural sector of Kazakhstan.
With the participation of Chinese investors, a number of important agricultural projects have been successfully implemented in Kazakhstan, and 5 more investment projects are planned.
This is a sign of great trust in Kazakhstan and evidence that special attention is paid in our country to the development of agriculture and improvement of the investment climate," the Vice Minister stressed, inviting leading Chinese companies to cooperate.
The parties discussed issues of increasing trade turnover and investments.
