A new "Plan for the development of the electric networks of Almaty until 2030" has been developed in Almaty. This was announced during the regular session of the Maslikhat of Almaty by the acting head of the Department of Energy and Water Supply Nurbakyt Serikbai. The document is aimed at improving the reliability of electricity supply, improving energy quality and developing urban energy infrastructure.
The electric Grid Development Plan defines a program for the modernization and construction of energy infrastructure facilities, designed for the period up to 2030, with a development perspective up to 2040. As part of the work on the document, a forecast was made for the development of the city's energy system, which will help effectively plan the necessary resources for the next decade.
An analysis of the energy industry in Almaty has shown a number of urgent problems and features that need to be addressed in the short term. Thus, by 2030, the power consumption in the megalopolis is expected to grow by 468 MW (up to 48%) and amount to 1,450 MW.
Taking into account these data, the Plan takes into account key tasks – the construction of new substations, reconstruction and modernization of electric networks, conversion of overhead lines to cable, installation of new distribution points and replacement of power lines, as well as the removal of restrictions for connecting new consumers.
The implementation of these measures will significantly increase the reliability of power supply, improve the quality of electricity for consumers and create opportunities for connecting new facilities.
