Negotiations between the largest food and agricultural companies of Kazakhstan and China took place in Beijing. A round table with business representatives dedicated to the development of trade and investment cooperation was chaired by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov.
The event was attended by the heads of industry associations of Kazakhstan, manufacturers and suppliers of grain, oilseed and livestock products, as well as feed, a total of 30 companies. Among them are Sey-Nar LLP, Pioneer PKK LLP, Batu Agro LLP, Allel Agro JSC, Aitas JSC, EMS Agro LLP, as well as the National Food Corporation Company.
The Chinese side was represented by 40 leading agricultural enterprises.
Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov noted that China is one of the priority foreign economic partners of Kazakhstan.
The largest share of Kazakhstan's exports of agricultural products to China falls on cereals and oilseeds, as well as vegetable oils. The Chinese market is of particular interest for the export of Kazakhstani grain. Today, Kazakhstan is one of the world's top ten wheat exporters and holds a leading position in flour exports.
"Kazakh agricultural products are in demand among Chinese consumers. Last year, the volume of grain supplies to China increased 5.5 times and reached 1.4 million tons. The two heads of state agreed to increase the volume of grain supplies to the Chinese market to 2 million tons in the near future and assured of the readiness of the Kazakh side to carry out deliveries on an operational basis.
According to the results of 9 months of 2024, Kazakhstani companies shipped 1.1 million tons of grain to China," Aidarbek Saparov announced the figures.
The parties discussed the possibilities of expanding business contacts between the enterprises of the agro-industrial complex of the two countries.
During the negotiations, the Kazakh side spoke about the possibilities of developing high-value-added industries in the country and invited Chinese businesses to invest in the agro-industrial complex sector and its infrastructure. One of the potentially attractive areas for investors from China may be the production of organic products, which have an increased cost and are in demand on world markets. In addition, Kazakhstan has good opportunities to develop exports of high-quality livestock products such as beef, lamb, poultry meat, canned meat, dairy products and honey.
Following the results of the round table, Kazakh agricultural producers signed memoranda and agreements with 10 companies of the People's Republic of China in the amount of 1 billion US dollars.
