This year marks the 90th anniversary of the Kazakh Musical Drama Theater named after Abai. During this time, the theater has become a sacred place, which has made a significant contribution to the development of national art, delighting the audience with new works and opening the creative path for many masters of the stage.
The Abai Theater is the first among all Kazakh theaters. It was here that in 1917, under the direction of Mukhtar Auezov, the premiere of the play "Enlik Kebek" took place on Zhailau Oykudyk.
A number of events were held as part of the anniversary events.
Akim of the region Abai Nurlan Urankhaev congratulated the theater staff and all art lovers on this significant event. The theater was given the keys to the new bus.
"The cultural center, founded by such outstanding personalities as Mukhtar Auezov, Kanysh Satpayev and Galiakpar Torebayev, has become a symbol of the spiritual value of our region. Over the 90-year history of the theater, a chronicle of outstanding achievements in the field of art has been written. Mukhtar Auezov once said, "Theater is one of the greatest fine arts." This is the spiritual pride not only of our region, but also of the entire Kazakh people, a bright beacon of national culture. I wish the close—knit team of the theater an inspiring creative path and new bright successes!" the mayor noted in his congratulatory speech.
At the conference "Abai theaters: Tarikh tolkyninda", the rich historical heritage of the theater and its place in national culture were discussed in detail. During the plenary session, theater and Abai scholars of the country made presentations on the development of theater, cinema and the role of the Abai Theater in society. The book "Tarikhy Teren Theater" was also presented, which covers in detail the formation and development of the theater, its contribution to Kazakh art and culture.
For the anniversary, a documentary film "Oykudykta Mazdagan Theater" was created, telling about the key moments of the 90-year history of the theater, the works of famous artists and the importance of theater in national culture.
Within the framework of the solemn event, congratulations were read out by Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev, Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva.
By the 90th anniversary, the actors of the theater were awarded medals and badges.
