In Moyinkum district of Zhambyl region, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov met with local residents and residents of the Sozak district of Turkestan region. The Minister discussed with residents of the two regions the issues of water distribution of the Shu River, listened to suggestions and answered questions from citizens.
Nurzhan Nurzhigitov also inspected a 120 km long bypass canal through which water from the Furmanovsky hydroelectric complex in Moyinkumsky district is sent to the Sozaksky district, and instructed to prepare documents for the reconstruction of the facility.
Representatives of the Shu-Talas basin Inspection reported that the discharge of water from the Tasotkel reservoir on the Shu River has begun. It is expected that this water in the required volume will reach the Sozak district in February. The minister said that he would come next year to get acquainted with the results of these works.
"Earlier I was at the Tasotkel reservoir. Its reconstruction is almost complete, a really great job has been done. Within two to three years, we will be able to start accumulating 620 million cubic meters of water in it. Thus, the volume of water in the lower reaches of the Shu River will increase. This water will be enough for both the Zhambyl region and the Sozak district," Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov said.
