The Qatar Travel Mart International Tourism Exhibition (QTM 2024) was held in the capital of Qatar, Doha, where the Almaty stand was presented. About 60 countries took part in the three-day exhibition, and more than 12 thousand people attended the event.
At the Almaty stand, visitors were presented with the natural beauty and cultural sites of the region. The guests of the exhibition had the opportunity to taste national treats, try on traditional Kazakh outfits and much more. As a result, the city of Almaty was recognized as the best in the nomination "The best tourist destination".
In addition to the Visit Almaty center, the city was represented by 6 domestic tour operators and the Shymkent ski resort. More than 100 B2B meetings have been held between Kazakhstani and foreign tour operators and 44 agreements have been signed providing for more than 13 thousand tourists to visit our city. These agreements will contribute to the strengthening of business ties and the development of international cooperation aimed at increasing the tourist flow in Almaty.
"The purpose of our participation in the exhibition is to introduce international partners, investors and tourists to the rich tourism potential of Almaty, its unique natural landscapes, a variety of cultural and historical sites. Special attention was paid at the exhibition to strengthening the city's position as a key tourist destination for residents of the Persian Gulf countries, since this market demonstrates consistently high interest in the city," said Almas Akpayev, Chief specialist of the Almaty Tourism Department.
In turn, Aisha Shakenova, a representative of the travel company, stressed that participation in such events makes it possible to expand partnership with foreign colleagues and promote the city in the international arena.
"Today there are direct flights between Doha and Almaty, which greatly facilitates travel for tourists who want to get to know Kazakhstan. Based on the results of the meetings, we expect that interest in our city will increase significantly," she said.
The guests of the exhibition also shared their opinions about Almaty as a tourist destination.
"Almaty is a city that I would definitely like to visit. I have already heard many positive reviews about it, and, apparently, it is an ideal place for combining business tourism, recreation and ecotourism," said Tariq al-Kubaysi, a Qatari citizen.
