The Ministry of Emergency Situations employees became world champions in jiu-jitsu

From November 27 to December 2, 2024, the World SOMVAT JU-JITsu Championship was held in the city of Mikolów, Republic of Poland. 860 athletes from 32 countries took part in this international tournament, demonstrating their skills and prowess. Competition among athletes from all over the world was high.
Among the participants representing Kazakhstan were the driver of the Shymkent emergency department Akbar Yelubayuly, the technician of the fire department No. 2 of the Fire Extinguishing and Emergency Rescue Service of the Emergency Department Talant Toktybayev and the technician of the maintenance department of fire departments of the Fire Extinguishing and Emergency Rescue Service of the Emergency Department Olzhas Batyrkhan. Our athletes, who have achieved success both in their work and in sports, have once again proved that they are the best by winning prizes.
Akbar Yelubayuly took first place in the 93 kg weight category and became a four-time world champion. Talant Toktybayev took first place in the 85 kg weight category, won a gold medal and became a three-time world champion. Olzhas Batyrkhan took second place in the 63 kg weight category and won a silver medal.
"Victory on the world stage for us is not just a personal achievement, but a victory for all the rescuers of our country. And first of all, we express gratitude for this opportunity and the support of the Ministry of Emergency Situations headed by the Minister. The main thing is not medals and cups, but the confidence that in any emergency situation we are ready to help wherever it happens," the champions noted.
This victory is not only one of the greatest achievements of our athletes in their sports careers, but also an important contribution of Kazakhstan to increasing the prestige of the sport of jiu–jitsu at the international level.
The victory of our athletes is the pride of the country, their perseverance and hard work are an example for the younger generation. We sincerely congratulate our athletes on their victory and wish them further success in their sports career!
