Sports and sports infrastructure development: Serik Zharasbayev met with residents of the capital

Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Zharasbayev held a reporting meeting with residents of Astana. The meeting focused on the development of children's and mass sports, improving sports infrastructure, and promoting national sports.
Serik Zharasbayev noted that this year the share of citizens involved in sports reached 41.5% (more than 8.4 million people). It is planned to increase this figure to 50% by 2029.
Also, this year, more than 640 sporting events were held in the capital, including the world championships in rapid and blitz chess, sambo and archery, as well as the Davis Cup in tennis. More than 56 thousand people participated in mass running and cycling events.
In 2024, the Sana Family Sports Center and the Kodakan Spirit Judo Center were opened in the capital. Next year, it is planned to complete the construction of physical education and health complexes in the Zheleznodorozhny and Ilyinka residential areas.
In the capital, special attention is paid to creating an inclusive environment for people with special needs. For example, in the near future, a Boccia center for people with special needs will be built in the Nura district, and work is continuing on the modernization of the K. Munaytpasov Central Stadium.
The number of people involved in national sports has reached 845.9 thousand. At the 5th World Nomad Games held in the capital this year, the Kazakhstan national team won 112 medals and took first place in the overall team standings.
Serik Zharasbayev spoke about future reforms in the field of sports, including the development of a per capita financing model for children's sports schools. He said that the pilot project will begin in 2025 and will be introduced throughout the country in 2026.
In addition, work is actively underway to digitize the sports sector. The E-Sport platform, which integrates data on athletes, coaches, sports facilities and competitions, will be launched in pilot mode.
The Asian Winter Games will be held in Harbin, China, in February 2025. 139 Kazakhstani athletes, including 37 representatives of the capital, will participate in the Games.
At the end of the meeting, Serik Zharasbayev thanked the residents of the capital for their active participation in the meeting and noted the importance of joint efforts in the development of sports.
