At the meeting, the Vice Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan B.Sh. Zhakselekova made a report on the issue of ensuring the alignment of the human rights indicators of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights with the indicators of the UN Human Rights Council in order to gradually introduce national indicators for assessing the observance of human rights.

She also reported on the work on adapting and introducing 16 illustrative global human rights indicators developed by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

In accordance with international practice, the selection of indicators is carried out taking into account the national priorities of the country.

The indicators allow for the provision of statistical data while protecting the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights; the International Covenant on Economic, Cultural and Social Rights; the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women; the UN Convention against Torture and other international human rights treaties.
