The ceremony of awarding the best athletes of the Olympic sports "Best of the Year - 2024" was held in the Abay region. The purpose of the event is to appreciate the work of our athletes who have shown high results in republican and international competitions and made a significant contribution to the development of sports.

“Your victories are the result of great work, perseverance and willpower. You are the pride of not only our region, but also Kazakhstan. We have achieved significant achievements in the development of sports this year. It is a great joy that our fellow countrymen are recognized on the world stage. I believe that in the future you will continue to rise to the top and bring glory to our country. I wish you success in the New Year,” said the regional akim.

Today, the share of the population in the Abay region who are systematically engaged in physical education and sports is 40%. 72 sports are actively developing in the region. And 15,259 athletes are regularly training in subordinate institutions. 453 athletes from the region perform in the national team of Kazakhstan.

In 2024, athletes from the region won 2,892 medals in republican and international competitions. Ruslan Yerembayev and Kenzhekan Baimuratov received the title of "Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan" in boccia.

The best athletes at the event were awarded with cash certificates, souvenirs and letters of appreciation.
