The Ministry of Culture and Information completes summing up the results of the year. Theaters and museums continue to play a key role in preserving and promoting cultural heritage. This year, many significant events and initiatives have been implemented that contribute to the development of the cultural sphere. Let's take a closer look at the key points and achievements.
Currently, 57 state theaters operate in Kazakhstan. This year, another state theater, Zhastar Theaters, was opened in Atyrau. About 9,000 specialists work in Russian theaters, 4,200 of them make up the creative team.
The state theaters of Kazakhstan have staged more than 200 new productions, of which 107 are based on the works of domestic authors. Throughout 2024, theaters actively participated in international festivals.
The Ministry continues large-scale work on the reconstruction and renovation of historical theaters: major repairs at the Mukhtar Auezov Kazakh National Drama Theater, internal repairs at the Abai Opera and Ballet Theater, and seven rooms have already been renovated. Changes are also expected at the Natalia Sats Russian Theater, and the renovation project is being reviewed. The renovation and gasification of the German drama Theater are being considered. In 2025, it is planned to conduct an examination of the building of the Gabit Musrepov State Academic Kazakh Theater for Children and Youth.
The year 2024 has become an important stage in the development of Kazakhstani museums, which continue to expand access to cultural heritage.
There are 275 museums successfully operating in Kazakhstan, including republican and regional museums, as well as 12 republican museum reserves, which protect more than 200 historical and cultural monuments of national importance.
Museums are actively developing their infrastructure, creating modern visitor centers - Otyrar, Ulytau, Tanbaly, Saraishyk. 5 more visitor centers are under construction - Esik, Ordabasy, Sauran, Gauhar-ana, Bozok. The museum-reserves are equipped with modern equipment — audio guides and touch screens, and educational branches of universities are opening in some visiting centers.
In addition, it is planned to assign the status of "National" to the Abylkhan Kasteev State Museum of Art, the Central State Museum and the National Museum.
In 2025, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will launch a single portal, the Virtual Network of Museums of Kazakhstan, which will provide access to information about all museums in the country. Users will be able to get acquainted with the objects of national cultural heritage included in the State Catalog, as well as see unique artifacts in 3D format. These initiatives are aimed at preserving the cultural heritage and increasing the tourist attractiveness of Kazakhstan in the international arena.
