On the instructions of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has developed a Comprehensive Plan for the Restoration of Water Resources until 2030. The plan provides for the construction of 42 new reservoirs, the reconstruction of 37 existing reservoirs and more than 14 thousand kilometers of irrigation systems.

Thus, the Ministry plans to increase the area of ​​irrigated land to 2.5 million hectares by 2030 by reducing water losses during transportation from 50% to 25%. It also intends to improve the condition of hydraulic structures to ensure stable water supply to sectors of the economy and reduce the risk of emergencies.
