KAZAKHSTAN STUDENT NATIONAL TEAM TO PARTICIPATE IN XXXIII WORLD WINTER UNIVERSIADE IN TURIN

STUDENTS OF KAZAKHSTAN ARE PREPARING FOR THE XXXIII WORLD WINTER UNIVERSIADE IN TURIN
The XXXIII World Winter Universiade among University Students will be held in Turin (Italy) from January 13 to 23, 2025. About 2,000 athletes from 57 countries will take part in the competition. 90 sets of medals will be awarded in 11 sports.
Kazakhstan will be represented at the Universiade by 103 athletes who will compete in 10 sports: biathlon, cross-country skiing, winter orienteering, freestyle skiing, figure skating, hockey (men's and women's), paralympic racing, alpine skiing, short track.
The opening ceremony will take place on January 13 at 19:30 in the Inalpi Arena (Turin), and the closing ceremony will take place on January 23, 2025 at 20:00.
The competition will be held from January 11 to 23 in accordance with the schedule of the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
The aim of the Universiade is to attract young people to sports, promote a healthy lifestyle, develop mass sports and promote an active lifestyle.
It should be noted that the national team of Kazakhstan showed the best result at the 2017 home Universiade in Almaty, taking second place in the overall medal standings. At that time, Kazakhstani athletes won 36 medals (11 gold, 8 silver and 17 bronze).
In 2023, at the XXXI World Winter Universiade in Lake Placid (USA), the Kazakh national team participated in 10 sports, including biathlon, ice hockey (men), short track, figure skating, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, ski jumping, speed skating, snowboarding and alpine skiing.
In the team medal standings, the national team of Kazakhstan took 11th place out of 43 countries, winning 11 medals: 3 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze.
