Kazakhstan's experience in the field of sustainable land management was discussed at COP 16

The 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification is taking place from December 2 to 13, 2024 in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan is represented at the event by Murat Temirzhanov, Chairman of the Committee on Land Management, National Coordinator of the Convention to Combat Desertification.
At the conference, Murat Temirzhanov spoke about Kazakhstan's experience in the field of sustainable land management. Within the framework of the ministerial and working sessions, issues of implementing the principles of neutral balance of land degradation (NBDZ), improving national land use policy and fulfilling international obligations to restore degraded territories were discussed.
Special attention was paid to the use of advanced technologies, including geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing data, to monitor the state of land resources and their effective restoration. Kazakhstan is ready to share successful practices, emphasizing its commitment to international cooperation within the framework of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification.
Kazakhstan's participation in COP16 provides a unique opportunity to strengthen dialogue with international partners, promote national initiatives and shape the global agenda for sustainable land use and combating climate change.
