Since the beginning of the year, the average price index for socially important food products has been 1.3%, which is the lowest in the last 10 years. Such data were announced on December 29, at a meeting on price stabilization for socially important goods chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin.
The products for which there has been a positive trend in price reduction since the beginning of the year include: buckwheat groats (-35.0%), carrots (-9.2%), rice (-8.2%), flour (-6.6%), sugar (-3.3%), cabbage (-0.8%) and sunflower oil (-0.4%).Four regions have performed their work as productively as possible this year and show a negative price index since the beginning of the year: Turkestan region (-2.8%), Ulytau region (-2.8%), Astana city (-1.5%) and Kyzylorda region (-0.6%). As noted by First Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Aizhan Bizhanova, since the transfer of competence on state price control to the Ministry, the use of administrative practice has increased 5 times compared to last year. State control has been strengthened and the activities of the regional commissions have been improved through the analysis of electronic invoices.
"More than 1,400 meetings of the regional commission were held, 1,441 violations were identified, 9.2 thousand chains were analyzed, and more than 3,700 risks of violations were identified. Starting from January 1, 2025, work is planned to tighten liability for exceeding the trade allowance in the Administrative Code. This tightening involves replacing the warning with an administrative fine from 5 to 150 MCI, depending on the category of subjects. The bill was supported by deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Senate," the First Vice Minister noted.
Vegetables from stabilization funds are also being distributed in the regions. According to information from Vice Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Taszhurekov, of the formed amount of 159.6 thousand tons, 19.5 thousand tons of vegetables have been sold today and the remainder is 140 thousand tons. 10.8 thousand tons of potatoes, 2.9 thousand tons of carrots, 3.2 thousand tons of onions and 2.5 thousand tons of cabbage were sold.
