Vasily Ivanovich Gretsky, a resident of the Khromtau district, the only veteran of the Great Patriotic War in the region, celebrated his 101st birthday.
Chairman of the Regional Council of Veterans Serik Shangutov and Akim of Khromtau district Nurkhan Tleumuratov came to visit the war veteran to congratulate him on his birthday and New Year, expressing warm wishes.
They emphasized that the feat of the veteran and his faithful service to the people laid the foundation for today's peaceful life.
Vasily Ivanovich was born in 1924 in Belarus. He started his career early, and in 1942 he went to the front, where he fought in the fields of Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Germany.
The soldier met the victory in a hospital located 75 kilometers from Berlin. He has raised 3 children, has 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Vasily Ivanovich's life path is an example for the younger generation. On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, his feat and selfless work will forever remain in memory.
