In 2025, the Committee on Land Resources Management of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan will take measures to return 2 million hectares of unused agricultural land to state ownership.
Work will also be intensified in other key areas.
In continuation of the initiatives announced by the Head of State at the Climate Summit in Baku, a Roadmap for the development of carbon farming will be developed and approved. This is an important step in combating climate change and increasing soil fertility.
"The implementation of the Roadmap for the restoration and improvement of soil fertility for 2024-2030 will continue. The document was approved in 2024. This year, special attention will be paid to the approval of regional action plans for the implementation of the Roadmap, with an emphasis on combating land degradation," said Murat Temirzhanov, Chairman of the KUZR.
The Committee will also take measures to improve the legislative framework.
In particular, measures will be taken jointly with interested government agencies to further promote the draft law "On Soil Protection", which is under consideration in Parliament. It will become a key document in regulating issues of soil protection, preservation of their quality and fertile layer.
