Kazakhstan and Tajikistan strengthen cooperation in agriculture and food security

Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov met with Director of the Agency for State Material Reserves under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Nurmakhmad Akhmadzoda. The parties discussed cooperation in the field of food security and the development of cooperation in the agricultural sector. The meeting was also attended by Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC Food Corporation Asylkhan Juvashev.
The main topic of the talks was the issue of increasing grain exports.
Tajikistan is a traditional market for Kazakhstani grain.
According to KTZ, in 2024, Kazakhstan exported about 1.3 million tons of grain to the country, including 633 thousand tons of new-harvest grain. The export volume of the new crop increased by 57% compared to the same period in 2023.
"We need to increase the pace and increase the volume of exports. We also propose to arrange the supply of flour. We are ready to create all conditions for cooperation," Aidarbek Saparov stressed.
Representatives of the Tajik side were interested in increasing the supply of sugar, vegetable oil, and meat.
In turn, the Minister stressed his readiness to provide comprehensive assistance.
At the end of the meeting, Aidarbek Saparov stressed that the implementation of the announced initiatives opens up prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation and will contribute to improving the food sustainability of the Central Asian region.
