Due to the forecast of snowfall, which is expected from January 8, the municipal services of Almaty have been put into an enhanced mode of operation. According to RSE Kazhydromet, snow with a total height of up to 9 mm is possible in the city at night and in the morning on January 8, as well as the formation of ice. The air temperature will drop to -5...-7 °C at night, -2...0 °C is expected during the day.
As of January 7, 438 units of special equipment and 968 road workers have been put on alert. Since the beginning of the 2024-2025 winter season, 220 thousand m3 of snow has already been removed.
To ensure timely and effective road cleaning, the Municipal Infrastructure Development Department calls on residents of the city:
- Do not park cars on roadsides, especially at night.
- Pay attention to the warning cones installed in parking lots and along roads.
Special attention is paid to the mountainous and foothill areas of the city, where snow raking is actively carried out.
Recommendations for drivers and pedestrians:
Due to possible ice conditions, drivers are asked to observe the speed limit, the distance between cars and avoid parking in areas where snow removal equipment is operating.
Pedestrians are advised to exercise increased caution when crossing roads, especially in conditions of limited visibility and slippery surfaces.
