The grand opening of a unique rescue station on the Zhaiyk River took place in Atyrau today. The Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Major General Genghis Arinov, together with Akim of the region Serik Shapkenov and veterans of civil protection agencies, opened a facility that will significantly increase the level of safety in the region's reservoirs.
This rescue station has no analogues in the CIS. The project is unique in several key ways. Construction of the facility began at the end of October 2024, and it was completed in a record 2.5 months. During the construction process, high-quality prefabricated modular materials were used, which allowed not only to speed up the construction process, but also to ensure the durability and reliability of the facility. The project received financial support and approval from the local akimat.
Addressing the staff, the Head of the Department noted: "The opening of this rescue station is an important step towards ensuring the safety of residents of Atyrau region. We continue to implement innovative and effective solutions to protect people, improving the infrastructure and equipment of our units. The President and local executive bodies support us in this. This station will become a real pillar for the region, and it will serve as an example for other territories of the country. The speed of its construction and equipping with modern equipment speaks to the high professionalism of our rescuers."
The facility includes an administrative block, including work rooms, a control room, a rest room for rescuers, changing rooms, a kitchen, and bathrooms with showers. There is also a box on the territory of the station for the placement of special equipment and swimming facilities, which makes it possible to respond promptly to emergencies.
During the event, Genghis Arinov handed over the keys to new emergency vehicles. These vehicles, equipped with modern rescue equipment, were purchased at the expense of the republican budget. An illustrative moment was the demonstration of new technology, including the Alligator airboat, which is a unique floating means for performing rescue operations in hard-to-reach places on reservoirs.
In addition, a two-storey office building for the families of rescuers was built on the territory of the station. The Minister personally handed over the keys to the new apartments to the station staff, which was an important step in improving their social protection. The 11 rooms have already been occupied by the station staff, for whom comfortable conditions have been created. Special attention is paid to every detail: the authors of the project made sure that the residents could move in with one suitcase, without thinking about household details.
During the event, Genghis Arinov left a memorable note and parting words in the form of the rescue station.
Today, employees of the emergency response department of Atyrau region ensure regular prevention of compliance with safety regulations in reservoirs, as well as conduct search and rescue and rescue operations.
Last year, rescuers made 559 emergency visits, rescued over 100 citizens, including 70 children. During the period of large-scale floods, the staff of the operational rescue squad evacuated more than three thousand local residents.
This year, 9 local residents, including 4 children, have already been rescued on the Zhaiyk River, which underlines the importance and effectiveness of this facility for the region.
