Akmola region is not only an agricultural, but also an industrial region of the country. The mining and metallurgical complex is the most important branch of the region's economy.
There are three large gold mining enterprises and two for the extraction and processing of uranium in the region.
Almost 60% of all gold-bearing ore and 30% of Kazakhstan's gold is mined at the enterprises of the Akmola region, which makes it the leader in gold production in the country.
An example of a large potential is the GOK "Zholymbet" of JSC "Altynalmas" in the Shortandinsky district. The company annually produces more than two tons of high-quality gold at this deposit, providing jobs for more than 1,200 people, of whom over 60% are residents of the village of Zholymbet.
During his visit to the Shortandinsky district, Akim of the Akmola region Marat Akhmetzhanov met with miners and got acquainted with the activities of the enterprise, emphasizing the importance of the work of mining specialists within the framework of the Year of Working Professions announced by the President of the country.
"The work of a miner and a miner is the basis of the economy of the region and the whole country. You work daily in difficult and sometimes dangerous conditions, extracting valuable resources that serve as a source of development and prosperity for our Motherland. Your skill, perseverance and dedication inspire and become an example for the younger generation," the head of the region emphasized.
Training of personnel for the mining industry has also been established in Akmola region. The Mining and Technical College in Stepnogorsk, which has become the industrial heart of the region, trains qualified specialists who then contribute to the development of the region's industry by working at large mining enterprises in the region.
