As of today, more than 83.7 thousand girls aged 11-13 years have been vaccinated with the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in Kazakhstan.
As part of the national program for the prevention of infectious and oncological diseases, a large-scale campaign to vaccinate girls against human papillomavirus (HPV) was launched in October. HPV is one of the most common viruses that is associated with the development of a number of cancers, including cervical cancer.
In Kazakhstan, cervical cancer (cervical cancer) is the second most common type of cancer among women of all ages after breast cancer and the second most common cause of death in women of fertile age (25-44 years).
According to the national cancer registry, about 2,000 cases of cervical cancer are detected annually in Kazakhstan, and over 600 women cannot be saved. According to the results of the KazNIOR study, in 74.2% of cases of cervical cancer, 16 and 18 oncogenic types of human papillomavirus (HPV) were detected in the biopsy material.
In Kazakhstan, vaccinations are carried out in medical classrooms of schools after receiving the informed consent of parents or legal representatives. At the request of parents, vaccination can also be carried out in polyclinics at the place of attachment.
There were no cases of adverse events after immunization among those vaccinated.
The high effectiveness of vaccination in reducing precancerous lesions of the cervix has been demonstrated in countries such as the USA, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Ireland. Sweden, Finland, New Zealand, Scotland, etc.
To get reliable information, we recommend using official sources: egu website.kz and the official pages of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Committee of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Center for Public Health, the territorial divisions of the CSEC and health departments.
There is also a 7701 call center for population immunization, where you can get answers to questions about routine vaccinations carried out in Kazakhstan, including HPV vaccination.
HPV vaccination is not only personal protection, but also a contribution to the health of the whole society. The more people are vaccinated, the more effectively it will be possible to limit the circulation of this virus.
