In the Abai region, under the chairmanship of Akim of the Abai region Nurlan Urankhaev, a regular meeting of the Commission for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations was held, where issues of the readiness of forces and means of the territorial subsystem of civil protection for spring floods, as well as for the evacuation of the population, if necessary, were considered. Special attention was paid to preparing for the flood season of 2025. The meeting discussed the condition of hydraulic structures, measures to prevent flooding and reconstruction of destroyed facilities.
Last year, 24 sections of local roads with a total length of 2 km were flooded by flood waters. Three bridges were destroyed. Thus, the bridge in the village of Kindikti was reconstructed in 2024. Design and estimate documentation is being developed for the bridge in the village of Tassai. It is planned to develop a PSA on the bridge in the village of Bozai in 2025.
To eliminate the consequences of floods on highways, the contractor Semey Zholdary LLP installed 6 culverts on the Aksuat– Shybyndy – border of the region road section.
To prevent possible emergencies, 7 emergency crews with 70 units of special equipment have been organized around the clock: dump trucks — 20 units, motor graders — 14 units, tractors — 20 units, loaders, DRS and bulldozers. Reserves of necessary materials have been created: 1,000 cubic meters of sand, 1,047 cubic meters of PGS, 260 cubic meters of rocky soil. Motor pumps, shovels, boots and other equipment have been purchased.
Based on the flood analysis in 2024, it is planned to repair culverts on the sections of the Karaganda – Ayagoz – Tarbagatai –Bugaz highways (increasing the diameter and number of holes). The work is expected to be completed in August 2025. In addition, the reconstruction of the bridge over the Irtysh River in Semey continues. At the moment, the contractor Integra Construction KZ LLP has erected 5 of the 9 pillars, and daily monitoring of the water level is underway.
The implementation of all measures is aimed at reducing the risk of flooding, ensuring the safety of road infrastructure and uninterrupted traffic during floods.
On the issues raised, the akim of the region gave relevant instructions to the heads of departments and akims.
