Chairman of the Republican Student Movement "Alliance of Students of Kazakhstan" Uldan Nauken spoke about the structure that constantly protects the rights and interests of students, the website of the Akimat of the capital reports.
"The initiatives of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev are always aimed at improving the well-being of students. Of course, social support plays an important role in creating a comfortable environment for students. After all, today's students are tomorrow's highly qualified specialists. As part of the social support for students, various projects of public organizations are being implemented throughout the country. One of these projects is the Institute of Student Ombudsmen, created by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Republican Student Movement "Alliance of Students of Kazakhstan". This institute is successfully developing in countries abroad and is part of major projects. And among the CIS countries, Kazakhstan became the first to establish the Institute of Student Ombudsmen in 2022. The following year, this initiative continued, and student ombudsmen were appointed in all regions of the country. Since last year, ombudsmen have started working at every university," said Uldan Nauken.
The Chairman of the Republican Student Movement stressed that the Student Ombudsman is an institutional structure that constantly protects the rights and interests of students.
"Every student receiving higher education should be able to reach their potential, and the support of institutions plays an important role in this. For example, before the start of the school year, special monitoring is carried out on dormitories. During the inspection, the criteria for the allocation of places and living conditions are evaluated. The readiness of individual dormitories to receive students in the new academic year is also being checked and the issue of shortage of places is being resolved within the framework of agreements concluded by universities. Such monitoring works are carried out 4-5 times a year. It is worth noting that in 2024, 7 dormitories with 4,200 beds were opened in Astana. They were built at the L.Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Turan-Astana University, Astana Medical University, Astana IT University, as well as at the Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University named after S.Seifullin," he said.
Uldan Nauken also noted that the student Ombudsmen have launched the Clean Session project.
"The project aims to encourage students not to break the rules during exams. It also helps to solve nutrition and logistics issues such as transportation costs. The Ombudsmen work in a monitoring group that monitors the fair distribution of vacant grants and special scholarships. It is important to respond promptly to students' requests and resolve their issues. Ombudsmen help to build a constructive dialogue between students and the authorities, answer not only the questions of bachelors, but also undergraduates and doctoral students," he added.
This year, the Republican Student movement "Alliance of Students of Kazakhstan" turns 20 years old. During this time, the organization not only provided social support to students, but also implemented a number of projects aimed at developing their creative initiatives. The student movement unites young people from all over the country under one roof.
