The International Zhautykov Olympiad has begun in the capital

The 21st International Zhautyk Olympiad in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science IZhO 2025 has started in Astana, the website of the capital's akimat reports.
The opening ceremony of the Olympiad took place at the Palace of Peace and Accord, bringing together 850 guests and participants of the event.
The Olympiad is being held in the capital for the first time. Deputy Akim of Astana, Eset Bayken, addressed the participants and their mentors with a welcoming speech.
This year, about 700 schoolchildren and 150 leaders from 15 countries are taking part in the Olympiad, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and Mongolia. The participants were selected based on the results of the national Olympiads.
"The Olympics will last five days and will consist of two rounds. The tasks correspond in complexity to the program of specialized classes and are compiled by an international jury. The chairman of the jury is Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Zhumadildayev," said Nurlan Zhumageldi, Deputy Director of the Daryn Republican Scientific and Practical Center.
At the end of the Olympiad, the winners and prize—winners will receive diplomas and medals, and all participants will receive certificates and memorable gifts. The organizers are the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian National Research and Scientific Center "Daryn" and the Republican School of Physics and Mathematics.
"For the third year in a row, I have been participating in the International Zhautykov Olympiad. As residents of Astana, we are glad to welcome all participants and guests. It's great to see so many talented people here. The grand opening of the Olympics took place today, and it was incredibly inspiring. We all really enjoyed listening to national music, which reminded us of our roots and traditions," said Altair Akanov, a participant in the Olympiad and a student of the Republican School of Physics and Mathematics.
Dance groups and vocalists performed at the opening ceremony of the Olympiad.
