On January 18-19, all Orthodox churches in Astana will celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord. In Astana, traditional Epiphany bathing will take place on the city beach near the embankment of the Capital's Park (near the Amphitheater), four fonts have been prepared for this, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
Festive divine services, a traditional religious procession and mass bathing are planned in Astana on January 18-19.
The holiday will be held in all Orthodox churches of the city: the Assumption Cathedral (Kuishi Dina St. 27), the St. Eleninsky Church (12 Republic Ave.), the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov (8 Bogenbai Batyr Ave.).

The water rescue service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and employees of the Astana City Police Department will ensure the safety of residents during the religious ceremony. Ambulance crews will be on duty at the Epiphany bathing sites.
We urge residents and guests of the capital to observe safety measures and take into account the weather conditions when swimming.
It is important to remember the safety rules in the designated bathing areas: no more than 3 people should stand next to the font, diving should only be under the supervision of rescuers and paramedics. Before entering the water, you can do a warm-up, which will help you warm up, after the ceremony you should rub yourself with a towel, put on warm clothes and drink hot tea. If you feel any deterioration in your health during bathing, you should immediately contact the doctors on duty at the bathing site.
In order to avoid accidents, rescuers warn that:
- It is forbidden to swim in unequipped places without the presence of rescuers and doctors;
- Do not leave children unattended. Even if a child is good at swimming, cold water and a stressful situation can throw him off balance.;
- Do not dive into the water from the ice. This can lead to injury.;
- Eliminate alcohol consumption. Immersion in icy water while intoxicated is fraught with severe hypothermia and other dangerous consequences.
