In 2024, 238 websites related to drug trafficking were blocked in Astana due to the prompt actions of the staff of the Department for Combating Drug Crime of the Astana City Police Department. This was announced at a briefing in the Communications service by the senior operative officer for particularly important cases of the Department for Combating Drug Crime of the Astana City Police Department, police Lieutenant Colonel Aliya Kibatkyzy, the official website of the city akimat reports.
"As part of the implementation of the Comprehensive Action Plan to Combat Drug Addiction in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023-2025, over the reporting period of 2024, the DP units initiated more than 1,100 drug–related offenses, 405 criminal cases, of which 283 were initiated against persons involved in the sale of drugs. More than 300 kg of various types of narcotic drugs were seized from illegal traffic. 681 facts of drug violations related to "synthetic types of drugs" were revealed. Since the beginning of this year, 31 criminal cases in the field of Internet resources have been initiated under Articles 299-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. 238 drug site addresses have been blocked," she said.
Aliya Kibatkyzy also explained the changes in criminal legislation regarding prosecution for drug crimes.
