In Almaty, the renovation of city buses continues as part of the development of the public transport system and improvement of the environmental situation. One of the private fleets has purchased a batch of electric buses, which will be launched on January 18.
Low-floor electric buses of the Golden Dragon brand have a range of 300 km, are silent, equipped with air conditioners, video surveillance cameras and other modern systems. These buses will run on route 98 with the message "Rayymbek metro station - Bai-Tal residential complex".
Deputy Head of the Almaty City Mobility Department Baurzhan Kumargazin noted that due to the work on the development of public transport, passenger traffic in the city is growing annually and currently about 1.6 million trips per day are made.
"Last year, we organized 20 new suburban routes to ensure transport connectivity with the Almaty agglomeration. As part of the implementation of the master plan for the Transport framework of the city until 2030, in the spring we will begin construction of two BRT lines along Zheltoksan Street and Rayymbek Avenue. The Akimat has also developed new Rules for subsidizing carriers aimed at improving the quality of services," he stressed.
In turn, the director of the City Bus fleet, Daniyar Baigabatov, said that the company had purchased 14 electric buses.
"The improvement of the transport infrastructure, the introduction of new technologies and clear rules in the field of transportation allow us to plan for the long term, upgrade rolling stock, and attract professional staff. In the future, we plan to purchase 60 more electric buses," added the head of the fleet.
It should be noted that this year in Almaty, the akimat and private carriers plan to purchase 800 gas buses and 260 electric buses, which will reduce the average service life of buses to 2 years.
