The large-scale eco-action "Taza Kazakhstan. Astana is a model of cleanliness and order." Residents of the capital do not stand aside and participate in various eco-activities. Another way to contribute to the cleanliness of the city and the formation of an ecological culture is to sort household waste and recycle it. Saule Tazhibayeva, director of LS Astana, told more about this work, the official website of the city akimat reports.
Saule Tazhibayeva is engaged in the collection and primary processing of secondary raw materials.
According to her, in recent years, residents have become more aware of the environmental situation in the city.
"Over a ton of raw materials arrive at one reception point every day, and about 25-30 tons per month. All this garbage could have ended up at the landfill, but now it will be used again. I am glad that our residents have become more aware. 70-80% of people who donate recyclables do this not for the sake of earning money, but to maintain cleanliness in the city," said the head of LS Astana.
According to her, separate waste collection systems are actively developing in the capital. For example, there are 5 LS Astana points in the city, where Astana residents can donate recyclables.
"We accept more than 17 items of recycled material for further processing. The main ones are cardboard, polyethylene, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, cans, waste paper (books, newspapers, magazines, etc.). Waste for recycling can be brought to the main base, which is located at 36/1a Telzhan Shonanuly Street, as well as to reception points located in several locations in the city. These points were opened specifically for the convenience of residents. We tried to make the reception schedule as convenient as possible – we work on Saturday and Sunday so that residents can safely collect garbage and bring it to us on weekends," Saule said.
It is worth remembering that recyclables must be disposed of in a purified form – for example, greasy cardboard or bottles with leftover drinks are not accepted. All recyclables must be pre-sorted by type.
"Our employees sort the waste that arrives at the points in the warehouse by type. When a large quantity accumulates, we transport them to the main warehouse. Processing plants accept recyclables in a certain form. For example, to deliver plastic bottles, we use a sorting tape to divide them into light and dark ones. Then the raw materials are pressed and the hard plastic is crushed. As 20 tons of materials accumulate, they are sent to domestic factories for processing," the interlocutor shared.
Astana residents can receive a monetary reward for garbage collection in accordance with the price list. The cost is determined per 1 kg of each type of recyclable material. An employee of the waste collection point weighs them and performs calculations.
Let us remind you that the campaign "Taza Kazakhstan. Astana is a model of cleanliness and order." As part of the eco-campaign, sanitary cleaning of the city, storm and sewer networks, cleaning of streets, sidewalks, residential areas, public spaces and courtyards is carried out.
