Currently, there are two special economic zones (SEZs) operating in the capital. One is "Astana – zhana kala", the other is "Astana-Technopolis". The management company of the FEZ is the Astana Invest Urban Investment Development Center. Today, the Industrial Park No. 1 at the Center has a large number of enterprises producing modern products, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
Factories and production facilities are opened annually, in which domestic and foreign investors invest.
"Today, the investment portfolio of industrial facilities in the FEZ consists of 130 projects. Of these, 70 projects have been commissioned to date, covering more than 5,700 permanent jobs. And in the next 3 years, 60 projects will be implemented, which will create 3,200 jobs. Industrial Park No. 1 also has large factories for the production of locomotives, electric locomotives, sewing workwear, optical devices, and building materials. All these enterprises employ experienced specialists in their field, such as mechanical engineers, locksmiths, welders, electricians, digital software control operators, production managers," says Aydin Kiylymbekov, Head of the Industry and Export Promotion Department of the Astana Investment and Entrepreneurship Development Department.
According to the head of the department, 13 projects were commissioned here last year, capable of creating more than 770 jobs. And this year, it is planned to launch 21 projects with more than 1,300 jobs.
It is worth noting that Industrial Park No. 1 is the leader among all parks in the country according to national indicators. During the period of operation, this park has reached a production volume of 8.6 trillion tenge. It is also obvious that the successful experience of this park will accelerate the launch of Industrial Park No. 2.
