Dmitry Krempin, a 7-year-old athlete from Konaev, won a silver medal at the Oceanman competition in Dubai.
More than 100 children and teenagers aged 4 to 17 from 20 countries took part in the international competition, which competed in open water swimming. Among the young athletes was Dmitry, who overcame the 500-meter distance and took the honorable second place. Having defended the honor of Kazakhstan, Dmitry returned home with a prize. He has been swimming since he was 5 years old.
Dmitry trains at the Aidaria swimming pool in Konaev. The young athlete's mother, Larisa Krempina, is glad that her son chose this particular sport.
Dmitry's coach is Madiyar Kemelzhan, who intends not to rest on his laurels and plans to prepare his students for participation in larger competitions next year.
There is only one swimming pool in the regional center. Its services are paid, but the institution provides special benefits to large families and people with disabilities. Currently, 115 children are training in the pool, of which about 20 are children with special needs.
