Construction of a plant for the production of wind turbines and energy storage systems has been launched in the Zhetisu region. The company will be located on the territory of the Khorgos – Eastern Gate special Economic Zone. The production capacity of the wind turbine plant will be 2 GW of generation per year, while the production of energy storage systems will have a capacity of 1 GW per year. The volume of investments will amount to 40 million dollars, 300 new jobs will be created, the press service of the akim of the Zhetisu region reports.
The investment project is being implemented in partnership between Kazakhstan Municipal Systems LLP and Envision Energy, a Chinese company that is one of the leaders in the field of renewable energy. It is planned that the company will annually produce 250 sets of wind turbines and 100 sets of energy storage systems.
Deputy Akim of the region Asset Kanagatov, who took part in the capsule laying ceremony, paid special attention to the development of Khorgos as one of the most important points of economic growth in the region.
- At the intersection of important directions from China to the CIS countries, Europe and Asia, one of the points of economic growth of the Zhetisu region is located – the Khorgos node. The most important and attractive part of Khorgos for both domestic and foreign investors is the Khorgos – Eastern Gate Special Economic Zone. As of today, 68 participants with projects with a total value of 907 billion tenge have been registered in the unified register of participants of the free economic zone. By 2030, it is planned to implement 47 projects with the creation of over 5,000 jobs. Meanwhile, to date, 21 projects worth about 51 billion tenge have already been implemented in the territory of the FEZ. And today, the construction of a modern plant for the production of wind turbines and energy storage systems has been launched, focused on ensuring both the domestic market and export, which is a clear result of effective joint work between the state and business," concluded A. Kanagatov.
For his part, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Kazakhstan Municipal Systems LLP Dinmukhamet Idrissov noted that the launch of the enterprise will not only enable the production of wind turbines and energy storage systems, but also attract modern technologies, which will have a positive impact on the development of green energy in the country, improving the environment and economic development in general.
- The launch of this project will reduce import dependence, strengthen energy security, create jobs, open up export opportunities and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy, contributing to the country's future. At the same time, at the initial stage of production, the share of Kazakhstani content will be 30%, and in the future it will be gradually increased to 90%," D. Idrissov said.
It should be noted that the launch of the enterprise is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026. At the same time, 60% of the products will be sent to the domestic market, and 40% will be exported to the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus.
In general, today in the field of Housing and communal Services for 2025-2030, a pool of investment projects has been formed from 133 projects in the fields of agriculture, industry, including manufacturing, renewable energy, transport and logistics, tourism, construction and others with a total value of 2.6 trillion tenge with the creation of more than 10.3 thousand jobs. At the same time, 49 projects worth 45.5 billion tenge and the creation of 1,231 jobs were implemented by the end of 2024. As for this year, it is tentatively planned to implement 59 projects with the creation of over 1,800 jobs.
By the way, international multinational companies are currently doing business on the territory of the Khorgos – Eastern Gate FEZ. Among those sold, it is worth noting enterprises for the production of solar panels, animal feeds, diapers and hygiene products, and a cluster of food and chemical industries is also actively developing. In general, the industrial zone of the FEZ is an effective platform for investors looking for ready-made land plots with infrastructure facilities, taking into account the available investment preferences.
