The Budget of Public Participation program is being successfully implemented in Almaty, which allows local residents to implement their ideas for updating urban infrastructure. Over three years, 938 projects worth 39.1 billion tenge have been implemented in the metropolis.
The program "Budget of Public Participation" has become an effective tool for creating a comfortable urban environment, taking into account the wishes of citizens, and the Akimat of Almaty intends to support its development. The city's budget for 2025 provides 17.1 billion tenge for BNU projects.
Thus, thanks to the BNU program, an abandoned wasteland in the Alatau district was transformed into a well-maintained park. Local residents, including the author of the project Gaukhar Sheralieva, actively cooperated with the akimat: sidewalks, arches, benches, as well as recreation areas with lanterns and parking appeared here. Trees and shrubs have also been planted in the park, which has changed the appearance of the area.
In Nauryzbai district, local residents, together with the district akimat, transformed the territory of the Shugyla residential complex, creating an Arbat with playgrounds and workout areas, a basketball field, an amphitheater and a recreation area with benches and swings. The uniqueness of the space was emphasized by stylish lighting poles and objects of small architectural forms made in the same style.
A number of projects have been implemented in the Auezovsky district. At the initiative of local residents, a courtyard in the 2nd microdistrict and an abandoned plot in the 1st microdistrict were landscaped. Trees and shrubs have been planted in public spaces, and automatic irrigation, lighting, and video surveillance systems have been installed.
"Many thanks to the authorities for their attention to our application. In a few months, this abandoned site has turned into a cozy park that pleases us every day," said resident Larisa Mirgalieva.
The People's Participation Budget project helps to improve urban infrastructure and create a comfortable environment for all residents of Almaty.
