5G stations, iKomek, QalaQyzmet: what initiatives have been implemented in the field of digitalization in the capital

At a briefing in the city communications service, Kuandyk Beksultan, Deputy head of the Department of Digitalization and Public Services, spoke about the results of the work done in 2024, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
According to the representative of the department, 15,039 cameras were installed in Astana in 2024, of which a significant part was integrated with the Police Operational Management Center.
The iKOMEK109 contact center has become a real support for the residents of the capital. Last year, the center's specialists processed more than 2.2 million requests and 438,000 incidents.
Every day, from 5 to 8 thousand applications are received here, of which 82% are resolved from the first call.
The QalaQyzmet Urban Services Center provided more than 200,000 services per year. Today, residents can receive 120 types of services, both at the center's offices and through online platforms, including the 1414 portal.
Additionally, the Birge city portal was launched, which processes applications and conducts consultations for citizens. More than 30 thousand applications and 25 thousand consultations have already been registered.
"The Smart Astana mobile application continues to integrate the city's life into every resident's smartphone. Today, the app offers 70 services, including paying for utilities, making an appointment with a doctor, and other popular services. The number of active users in 2024 exceeded 30,000, indicating a growing interest in digital services.
In addition, STEM Olympiads are being held for schoolchildren in the capital, which have gathered more than 2,000 participants since 2018. In 2024, a new educational project "Capital No-Coders" was launched, where over 200 students learned how to create IT products without programming.
As part of the modernization of the Internet infrastructure in the capital, network coverage was provided at 22 sites and 262 5G base stations were installed. These steps are aimed at creating stable and fast Internet access for residents and businesses," Kuandyk Beksultan said.
One of the significant achievements of 2024 was the introduction of the international standard ISO 37120, which evaluates the quality of life and sustainable urban development. Astana was assessed on 128 indicators in 19 key areas, including education, healthcare, economy and security.
"In 2024, we have achieved significant results in the field of digitalization. These achievements directly affect the quality of life of the city's residents. Work on the introduction of innovative technologies will continue in 2025 to make Astana an even more comfortable and safer city," said the deputy head of the department.
