A master class in para hockey was held at the Tarlan ice arena for children with musculoskeletal disorders, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
Pair hockey among children is being developed jointly with the Adaptive Hockey Federation of Russia.
"The pair of hockey in Kazakhstan began to develop only in 2022 and at the same time we began to compete in the world divisions. If in 2023 we held the World Championship B-Pool Astana 2023 for the first time, now we plan to launch a children's section. For comparison, we immediately started an adult line. Now children aged 8-16 will have the opportunity to master the base of para hockey and hone their technical skills. In general, Kazakhstan has a steam hockey rink only in Astana and Taldykorgan. I am sure that we will improve over time," said Kairat Sabirov, Secretary General of the Kazakhstan Para Hockey Federation.
"High success in sports is very important even in everyday life. This is because sport strengthens one of the most important human traits – willpower. Although sledge hockey was launched only in recent years, it is dynamically developing on a global scale. Today we are glad that we are developing para hockey together with the Kazakh side. In this regard, we, for our part, presented 10 sleighs," said Yuri Melnik, Adviser to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Kazakhstan.
At the end of the event, about 50 children with musculoskeletal disorders passed a special selection, a friendly match between the teams of Kazakhstan and Russia was organized.
