Since the night of January 22, snowfall is forecast in Almaty for two days, sometimes heavy. Ice is expected, and the air temperature will drop.:
• On January 22, at night from -7 to -9 °C, during the day from 0 to -2 °C;
• On January 23, at night from -15 to -17 °C, during the day from -5 to -7 °C.
In this regard, the municipal services of the city are switching to an enhanced mode of operation. Round-the-clock duty is organized at the production bases. 204 sand spreaders will be on duty at their locations until the start of the snowfall.
The main thoroughfares will be pre-treated with liquid reagents. It is planned to employ 624 units of special equipment and 1,380 road workers around the clock.
In addition, for the timely prevention and elimination of snowfall on dangerous sections of roads, descents, ascents, exits from transport interchanges, work on patrolling the condition of the road surface by 47 operational teams will be intensified.
Due to the predicted icing, snow rolls on the carriageway, and icy sidewalks, we ask motorists and pedestrians to take precautions. We recommend that drivers slow down, increase the distance between cars, and avoid sudden maneuvers.
