In 2024, the budget of Almaty received 1,874 billion tenge of taxes and payments with an increase of 24%. At the same time, about 70% of revenues are provided through the development of SMEs. This is reported in the Almaty Finance Department, noting that local budget revenues show significant growth due to the dynamic growth of the city's economy.
It should be noted that in December last year, the Maslikhat of the city approved the budget of Almaty for 2025-2027. For the first time in the history of our country, the Almaty city budget for the current year exceeded the mark of 2.2 trillion tenge. This is 2.1 times higher than at the beginning of 2022. The budget of the districts is also showing growth. Thus, taking into account the decentralization of functions, the budget of 8 districts of Almaty was approved in the amount of 293.6 billion tenge with an increase of 6 times by 2022.
Since the beginning of 2023, the Akimat of Almaty has carried out extensive preparation of project documents for the implementation of major infrastructure projects. As a result, in 2025, the development budget increased 2.2 times to 458 billion tenge by 2022.
According to the instruction of the Head of State on the progressive improvement of the well-being of citizens, the budget of Almaty retains its social orientation. This area accounts for more than 40%, or 894.3 billion tenge in 2025.
It should be recalled that, taking into account the intensive development of the city's economy and a significant increase in local budget revenues, on December 6, 2024, Fitch Ratings confirmed Almaty's independent credit rating at BBB+, with a Stable outlook.
