In accordance with the President's instructions, construction of three new airports in the resort areas of Zaisan, Katonkaragai and Kendirli began in 2025 in order to develop domestic tourism and passenger air transportation.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the implementation of these projects will give a new impetus to the development of the regional economy, as well as increase the flow of domestic and foreign tourists and help provide additional jobs for local residents.
In addition, three new passenger terminals were commissioned in 2024 as part of the modernization of the air transport infrastructure in order to develop large hubs. For example, the capacity of passenger terminals in the cities of Almaty, Shymkent and Kyzylorda has increased.
