Multidisciplinary cooperation between Kazakhstan and the SCO discussed in Beijing

Beijing, January 21, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev met with Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Yermekbayev.
During the conversation, the Deputy Minister congratulated N.Yermekbayev on assuming the post of SCO Secretary General and assured of Kazakhstan's continued and active position in supporting multidisciplinary cooperation within the Organization. The parties discussed the current activities of the SCO and preparations for the planned events at the highest and highest levels in 2025.
Bakayev noted the importance of the progressive implementation of the agreements reached following the Astana SCO Summit on July 4, 2024. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of purposeful work to improve the SCO's activities in order to further transform the Organization into an efficient and mobile multilateral structure.
In turn, the SCO Secretary General, emphasizing the active role of Kazakhstan in the Organization's activities, informed about the priority areas of work for the coming period.
The sides also exchanged views on further development of cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and security spheres.
