According to Kazhydromet, 18 cm of snow fell in Almaty during the day, which is 31% of the January norm. 21 cm of snow was recorded on the Kamensk plateau, 12 cm on Medeu.
573 units of special equipment, as well as 711 road workers, were involved in street cleaning at night. 203 dump trucks are involved in snow removal. As of the morning of January 23, 9,600 cubic meters of snow had been removed.
Since the evening of January 22, 26 columns of vehicles have been shoveling snow, accompanied by patrol cars of the traffic police. After an intense snowfall that began at 23:30, repeated snow removal was organized from 4:00 a.m.
During the day, 475 units of special equipment and 1,280 road workers are involved. With the use of 95 units of small-sized machinery, mechanized cleaning of sidewalks, public spaces and entrances to socially significant objects is carried out. Manual cleaning of public transport stops and above-ground crossings is also performed.
The akimats of the districts have organized a round-the-clock duty to monitor the production of snow removal.
Snowfall in Almaty began on the morning of January 22. According to the forecast of RSE Kazhydromet, today, January 23, from 16:00, light snow is expected at times until the end of the day. The air temperature during the day will be -5...-7 °C. January 24 partly cloudy with no precipitation. The air temperature will drop to -18... -20°C at night, and -12...-14°C during the day.
