The head of the region, Serik Shapkenov, met with representatives of Qatar Su LLP and discussed the groundwater extraction project, the press service of the regional akim reports.
The executive director of Qatar Su LLP, Nikolai Enshin, who submitted the project, said that he had received special licenses in this direction and shared his plans to conduct geological exploration work to study and assess water resources in the region.
- We have begun negotiations with the Atyrau Hydrogeology company. We plan to obtain a package of necessary documents from state funds, create a regional hydrogeological database, and enter data on the Zhanasu and Bali deposits. We will also create a preliminary hydrogeological digital model that will allow us to assess the quality and production potential of water based on historical data. This project includes infrastructure to be created for the production of drinking water and technical water and its efficient transportation. The water transportation system will be connected to the main water pipelines, and we want to implement it within the framework of long-term offtake contracts and partnership projects with Tengizchevroil, - said N. Enshin.
Speaking at this meeting, TCO CEO Kevin Lyon noted that water supply to production facilities is one of the most important tasks in connection with the completion of the Keleshek expansion project.
- As a socially responsible company, we support opportunities to improve water supply in this direction. Safety in production is one of our top priorities. TCO is always open to cooperation, but the company's requirements for potential contractors must also be taken into account, - said Kevin Lyon.
Serik Shapkenov touched upon the difficulties in providing water to the region and emphasized the effectiveness of the project aimed at using groundwater for the region.
- Water supply is an issue of strategic importance in our country. We receive water from the Zhaiyk and Kigash rivers. We will provide water to the population and industrial facilities with the Astrakhan-Mangyshlak main water pipeline. I expressed interest in your project and agreed. This is because it is important to use groundwater efficiently. Its quality is good, and its use is much more efficient. If the issue of mineralization of its composition is resolved, it can be provided to the population as clean drinking water. Your investment project is promising, and if you are ready to start work, we will support it, - said S. Shapkenov.
