Akim of Atyrau Oblast Serik Shapkenov met with the management of Goldbridge International Company LLP. The parties discussed a project for the production of sugar in the Atyrau region, the press service of the regional governor reports.
The head of the company, Lina Taiken, said that they intend to build a plant that will produce 144 thousand tons of sugar per year.
- The project is designed to cover the demand in the Sahara not only in the region, but also in the country as a whole. We exchanged experience with the leading Chinese company for the production of yeast from beets and thoroughly studied its technology. They supported our project and are ready to invest 80% of the investment. The implementation of our project in the Atyrau region will take one and a half years. If the official documents will be ready in time, we will launch the plant in the summer of 2026 and, in addition to sugar, we will produce four more types of products. We ask you to provide a land plot for these purposes, said L. Taiken.
Serik Shapkenov noted that today 90% of sugar is imported from other countries. The head of the region supported the project presented by the "Goldbridge" company and assured that it would provide the necessary support.
- For us, this is a necessary and effective project. Land of Atyrau is suitable for growing beets. I am sure that thanks to such projects, we will provide the domestic market with our products and open the way for the development of the agricultural sector. On their part, they are ready to provide the necessary infrastructure, said S. Shapkenov.
In conclusion, the head of the region instructed to consider the option of providing the land plot and prepare the necessary documents for the conclusion of a three-party memorandum.
