After the heavy snowfall in Almaty on January 22-23, city residents and local volunteers showed genuine support and care for each other. The city's municipal services worked in an enhanced mode, clearing roads of snow and trying to prevent traffic jams on main highways. Employees worked around the clock, ensuring the safety and comfort of city residents.
Despite the adverse weather, about a hundred volunteers went to the homes of lonely pensioners and helped clear their yards of snow.
“It's not easy to shovel snow when you're over 70. I was very grateful that the volunteers didn't remain indifferent and came to help. In addition to helping hands, they also brought warmth to their hearts, and their kind words can cheer you up on a frosty day. I felt like a resident of a caring city,” said pensioner Elena Konstantinovna.

The young people not only distributed hot tea and food to utility workers, but also helped clear the sidewalks of snow.
The residents of the city, seeing this care, also took part in charity events. Many of them showed an example of unity and care by donating food, snow removal equipment, or helping their neighbors.
Such events are not new to Almaty. The city’s volunteers regularly organize various events that provide assistance not only during winter natural disasters, but also at any time of the year. They participate in social projects, support large families, and organize collections of clothes and food for low-income citizens.
“We cannot remain indifferent when we see that help is needed. Volunteering is not a one-time event. This is our contribution to the development of our city and to warm relations between residents. Thus, we learn to appreciate the daily work of sweepers, cleaners, and utility workers, whom we sometimes do not notice. Almaty is our common home, let's support each other and take care of our beloved city together! ”- says Zere Maksuthan, a volunteer of the “Qamqor charity” foundation.
Although the heavy snow in Almaty was a test for the city, it also became a great opportunity for people to show themselves. In such moments, unity and mutual assistance are of particular importance. For several years, Almaty volunteers have become real heroes of the city in everyday life, turning it into a cozy city.
