Over 400 people rescued and evacuated from snowdrifts in past 24 hours

Over the past 24 hours, due to deteriorating weather conditions, blizzards, ice, strong winds and zero visibility, the Ministry of Emergency Situations rescued and evacuated 416 people, including 12 children, and also removed more than 42 vehicles from snowdrifts on the roads of Kazakhstan.
As a result of the difficult meteorological situation in the territory of 11 regions, traffic restrictions were introduced on 38 sections of highways of republican significance and 31 sections of regional significance.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, volunteers and road services organized meals in places of traffic jams, set up warming tents, placed people in warming points and transported farm animals to nearby settlements. The population was informed about the deteriorating weather conditions and road closures through the media, television and radio channels and SMS. Emergency headquarters have been opened in 18 regions of the country, and hotlines are working.

Evacuation of 82 foreign citizens in Aktobe region
A bus traveling from the city of Shymkent to the Russian Federation broke down on the Samara-Shymkent highway and could not continue its journey. The driver sought help from rescuers. Emergency services workers transported 82 passengers, including 3 children, who are citizens of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and the Russian Federation, to the heating station in the village of Kurylys. Foreign citizens expressed their gratitude to the rescuers of Kazakhstan.
Rescue of passengers of a bus that broke down in Ulytau region
A rescue operation was carried out 20 kilometers from the city of Karazhal to the village of Shalgiya. A bus carrying 50 passengers broke down and got stuck on the road due to a severe blizzard. Emergency services workers, ensuring safety, took the bus to school No. 7 in the city of Karazhal. The bus driver, whose hands were frostbitten, was taken to the hospital for medical assistance.
Rescue of fishermen trapped in snow in Zhetysu region
During their patrol, rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations discovered a car with four fishermen in it. Due to the worsening weather conditions, they lost their way and became trapped in snow. Rescuers pulled the car out of the snow and brought the fishermen to a safe place.
Rescue operations in Zhambyl region
Another 11 people were rescued from a snowdrift. Due to a severe snowstorm on the section of the Almaty-Tashkent highway, passengers of two cars, a roadside cafe, and a passenger bus were stranded on the road. Emergency Situations Ministry employees urgently came to the aid of citizens who found themselves in a difficult situation. Three employees and one unit of special equipment were mobilized to conduct the rescue operation. Thanks to the professional actions of rescuers, 11 people were evacuated and taken to the village named after Bauyrzhan Momyshuly.
A rescuer from Zhambyl overcame several kilometers in a blizzard to evacuate people. Three tractors got stuck in a snowdrift on a closed section of the Momyshuly-Koshkarata highway in the Zhualy district, and therefore sought help from rescuers. In order to provide assistance, rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations drove to the scene of the call in a Trekol SUV. Due to the adverse weather conditions, rescuer Rauan Akhmetov walked in front of the vehicle to determine the path under the snow. Despite the blizzard, they reached the scene of the call and evacuated six people in the tractors to the village of Koltogan. At the same time, the tractors were towed to a nearby settlement by a crawler tractor.
In addition, assistance was provided to passengers stranded on the Almaty-Tashkent-Termez highway of republican significance. During the work, a total of 377 people, including 75 teenagers, were transported to the railway station in Taraz and sent to Shymkent. Emergency workers, together with the local emergency services and volunteers, provided assistance to passengers at the entrance to the village of Aishabibi and organized a hot meal.
4 members of one family were trapped in a snowdrift near the village of B. Momyshuly, on the 6th kilometer of the Almaty-Tashkent highway. There was a pregnant woman in labor, two children and a man in the car. Emergency workers quickly arrived at the scene, evacuated the family members in the car to a fire truck and towed the car to a safe place. Then the woman was taken to the medical center in the village of B. Momyshuly. The man and children were sent to their relatives' homes.
Rescue operations in Abay region
The akim of the Orken rural district contacted the 112 control panel in Ayagoz and reported that a pregnant woman in Bakanas village needed help. A blizzard hit the road, making it impossible to travel. Emergency services and ambulance workers from the city of Ayagoz rushed to the scene. Thanks to the coordinated actions of doctors and rescuers, the pregnant woman was promptly taken to the maternity ward of the Ayagoz district central hospital, where she gave birth.
A passenger bus traveling in the direction of "Akzhar-Almaty" on the 736th kilometer of the "Karaganda-Ayagoz-Bogaz" highway of republican significance, located in the territory of the Karagash rural district of the Ayagoz district, veered off the road. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the military unit 15701 of the Ministry of Emergency Situations urgently arrived at the scene and jointly evacuated 10 passengers. All passengers were taken to the city of Ayagoz and placed in a warming station.
Coming to the aid of drivers stuck in snow on the road in the East Kazakhstan region
In the Glubokoe district, a passenger car got stuck in snow on the "Shemonaikha Sekisovka" highway, rescuers came to help it and pulled the car out of the snow. On the road to the city of Shemonaikha, emergency workers identified 6 more cars stuck in snow and helped people in an emergency situation with a high-traffic "TREKOL" vehicle. 8 people were taken to a nearby settlement and a hot meal was organized for them.
Rescue operations on the roads of Karaganda region
In the Shet district, 8 cars were pulled out of a snowdrift 90 kilometers from the village of Aksu-Ayuly. 15 people, including 1 child, who were inside the cars were rescued. In the same district, 2 people from a car stuck in a snowdrift 75 kilometers from the village of Aksu-Ayuly were taken to the village of Aksu-Ayuly. 2 people from a car stuck in a snowdrift near the village of Kobetey, 33 kilometers from the village of Nura, Nura district, were taken to the village of Nura. Psychologists from the Emergency Situations Department and the Center for Disaster Medicine provided emergency psychological assistance to 18 victims in the areas where traffic jams occurred.
The Emergency Situations Department conducted patrols on high-traffic vehicles on difficult snowy sections of the roads for the presence of people and cars stuck in traffic jams. Rescuers continue to work around the clock, providing assistance to the population and ensuring safety on the roads.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan urges citizens to take precautions, follow storm warnings and avoid long trips in adverse weather conditions. Rural residents are advised to refrain from long walks in case of worsening weather conditions.
