Akim of the region Nurlan Urankhaev met with members of the local history society "Priirtyshye". The society, which has a 20-year history, is engaged in the inventory of historical monuments of the region and is working to preserve them.
During the meeting, the local historians talked about the work done and shared their plans for the future. The prospects of the historical sites of the city were also discussed together with the akim of the region.
"I myself am interested in preserving the appearance of the historical sites of Semey. Being a native of this city, I know better than anyone what historical events are associated with each ancient building. Local executive bodies work within the framework of the law with citizens who irresponsibly destroy important facilities for the city. However, in order not to lose what we have, we must re—compile a list of historical buildings together with you," the governor of the region said.
The issue of restoring historical sites under state protection was also discussed at the meeting. The sides exchanged views on the improvement of the city. For example, Vladimir Borovinsky, a member of the local history society, said that a meeting of young local historians is planned to be held in May this year. In this regard, the governor of the region assured that he would provide the necessary assistance.
"We will continue to explore the history of the region, popularize new facts found in the course of our work. We have a number of planned events for this year. In this regard, we will maintain close cooperation with you," said Marat Sasanov, Chairman of the Priirtyshye Local History Society.
In addition to the chairman, local historians Nikolai Isaev, Ekaterina Gulyaeva, Olga Isaeva, Askar Sadykov, Alexander Lyui expressed their thoughts. The akim of the region carefully listened to the proposals of local historians, gave appropriate instructions to the heads of departments and the mayor of the city for their comprehensive study and making a positive decision.
